BOUNDARY REVIEW UPDATE
The next phase of the boundary review has started and the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) has opened a public consultation on its draft recommendations for new electoral arrangements for Dorset Council. The draft recommendations propose that 82 councillors should be elected to Dorset Council and new electoral ward boundaries should be created. Once the Commission has considered the responses, final recommendations will be published in October 2018. Following parliamentary scrutiny, the arrangements are scheduled to come into effect at the authority’s first election in May 2019. You can have your say and contribute to the design of the new wards by reading the full report and reviewing the accompanying map before responding to the LGBCE. You are encouraged to respond if you support or oppose the recommendations, and you are welcome to submit alternative proposals in your response. The consultation closes on 27 August 2018 and the final recommendations are due to be published on 23 October 2018. You can find information, view interactive maps and respond to the proposals on the LGBCE website It has been a busy couple of months with the Structural Changes Order passing through Parliament and the first meeting of both the Shadow Dorset Council and the Shadow Executive Committee being held.
